Description

The White Trillium is a small perennial wildflower that grows about 30 cm in height. This plant may also be known by the common name Wood Lily. The leaves are large, ovate shaped, prominently veined, and appear in whorls of three. The flower is showy, white colored, has three large wavy petals, appears from the center of the leaf whorl, and blooms between April and May. The flower and foliage will die back by mid-summer. This beloved flower is an indicator of spring and considered the provincial flower of Ontario.

Planting conditions

White Trillium grows best in moist to normal conditions with partial sun exposure or shade. It prefers well-drained, cool, organically rich humus or loam soil types. This wildflower can be naturally found in moist forests and along shaded shorelines.
