Description

Hairy Sweet Cicely is a flowering herb that grows up to 1 metre in height. It has thick fibrous roots with a solitary stem and compound leaves. In the spring, before the forest is completely foliated, Hairy Sweet Cicely grows foliage and a flower blooms. This usually happens between late April and June. Seeds drop by autumn or winter and seep dispersal are often transported by animals as the seeds become imbeded in fur.

Planting conditions

Hairy Sweet Cicely is a flowering herb that grows best in normal to moist conditions naturally found by river banks and moist woodlands. It is most often found in Sugar maple sugars. It prefers moist, rich soils but can grow in sandy loam to clay loam. Hairy Sweet Cicely prefers soil pH to be acidic to neutral. The plant prefers part shade.
