Description
The Sand Dropseed is a short perennial warm-season grass that grows to around 1 metre in height. Sand dropseed has alternate basal leaves that grow up to 25 cm long and are usually light to medium green. The Sand Dropseed is a relatively prolific grass as an individual inflorescence can hold up to 10,000 seeds.
Planting conditions
As the name implies, the Sand Dropseed prefers sandy areas or rocky areas. It often naturalizes disturbed areas such as roadsides, railroad tracks, as well as prairies, savannas, and sand dunes. The grass prefers full to partial sunlight and can tolerate drought.
