Description

Early Goldenrod is a hardy, perennial wildflower species that can grow up to 1 m in height. The leaves are green, narrow, lance shaped, alternately arranged, and have entire margins. The flowers are showy, bright yellow, appear in dense plume like clusters, and bloom between July and August. The flowers are beneficial to pollinator species, including bees and butterflies. As the name suggests, Early Goldenrod is the earliest to bloom among the many species of goldenrod.

Planting conditions

Early Goldenrod grows best in normal to dry conditions with full to partial sun exposure. It prefers well-drained, sandy or loam soil types. It tolerates drought, rocky soil, clay soil, and deer grazing. This wildflower can be naturally found in fields, prairies, disturbed areas and roadsides.
