Description

Howell's Pussytoes is an evergreen perennial herb that typically grows 0.2-0.4m tall. They have 3-15 flowers in a cluster atop each stem, with male and female heads on separate plants. Female flower heads are wooly and white-brown in colour, while male flowers are less furry looking and have a brown column of stamens protruding from the middle of each flower. The leaves are basal, spoon-shaped, and have white hairs underneath. Howell's pussytoes propagates clonally through stolon's.

Planting conditions

Howell's Pussytoes grow best in full sun to part shade, and thrive in dry to normal soils. They often take root in rocky woodlands, dry fields, and meadows, and can often be found growing under pine stands.
