Description

The Blue Eyed Grass is a perennial wildflower species that can grow up to 1 m in height. The leaves are mostly basal, linear and grass like, light green coloured, and appear in small clumps. The flowers are blue to purple coloured, have a star like appearance, six petals, yellow centers, appear on the tips of long stalks, and bloom between May and July. This plant is beneficial for pollinator species, like bees and butterflies.

Planting conditions

Blue Eyed Grass grows best in dry to moist conditions with full or partial sun exposure. It prefers well-drained sandy soil types but can grow in a variety of soil types. It is tolerant of drought and full shade. This wildflower can be naturally found in meadows, prairies, open forests, forest edges, sandy hills, and shoreline slopes.
