Description

Streamside Fleabane is a perennial wildflower species that can grow up to 1 m in height. This plant may also be known by the common names: Common Fleabane or Smooth Fleabane. The leaves are mostly basal, oblong shaped, smooth and hairless, have entire margins, and the leaves become smaller and fewer going up the stem. The flowers are pale pink to white coloured, daisy like, have fine and densely packed rays, have a yellow center, appear on a downy stem, and bloom between June and August. The flowers are attractive to pollinator species, like bees and butterflies.

Planting conditions

Streamside Fleabane grows best in normal to moist conditions with full or partial sun exposure. It prefers well-drained sandy loam soil types. It can tolerate drought and dry soil but young plants should be watered occasionally until established. This wildflower naturally occurs in open forests, moist meadows, prairies, roadsides, or along shorelines.
