Description
Swamp Aster is a large perennial wildflower that can grow up to 2 m in height. This plant may also be known by the common name Glossy Leaf Aster. The leaves are glossy, light green colored, alternately arranged, lance shaped, and clasp the stem. The flowers are large, light blue to purple colored, have yellow centers, and bloom between August and September. These flowers are beneficial to pollinator species, including bees and butterflies.

Swamp Asters grows best in moist to wet soils with full sun exposure. It prefers well-drained, organically rich soil types. It is tolerant of seasonally flooded areas, This wildflower can be naturally found in wet fields, around wetlands, along sunny shorelines.
